As is generally the case for the Grand Roche blend, it is predominately made upof all of the press wine from the Forman Vineyard lots of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot, Merlot and Malbec. In the 2013 version there was, in addition to the press wine, a small amount of Cabernet Franc free-run added. Because of the fact the Grande Roche is closely related to the Forman Vineyard wine, it is no wonder that in many respects, it is easily recognized as just a slightly less sophisticated example of it's more pedigreed parent.
In the 2013 Grande Roche, like its parent- the 2013 Forman Cabernet Sauvignon, is really quite delicious. With dark color and a wonderful balance it represents the concentration of the vintage. Plenty of fruit exists in a very complex array made possible from an exquisite vintage and the five varieties that make up its blend.
