Andrés Valiente and his son Rodolfo formed Viñedos & Bodegas Vegalfaro in 1999. The name Vegalfaro comes from a combination of the word “vega,” meaning a lowland meadow or stretch of alluvial soil, with the historic name of their winery property, Casa Alfaro.

Rodolfo Valiente has strived to develop a distinctively personal wine style at Vegalfaro, always built around organic practices and the willingness to combine tradition with innovation in search of optimal terroir expression.

Bodegas Vegalfaro produces wines in three Denominaciones de Origen: D.O.P. Pago de Los Balagueses, D.O. Utiel-Requena and D.O. Cava.

To create great wine two elements are critical: a unique place where the vine is challenged to reflect its terroir, and the passion and know-how of the people who work there.

Rebel.lia rebels against the rules, but without breaking them, and is free to express itself as it has behaved that year, always faithful to its philosophy of expressing the vintage.

“Aromas of cassis and purple plums (with a hint of leather) set the scene for flavors of black current, blackberry, dark chocolate, coffee, clove and the tiniest hint of green bell pepper. Rigid tannins coat the tongue and then drop off into a floral-scented finish.”
