Every Flowers wine is made to express the land where it was farmed. Our coastal proximity and high-elevation vineyards give our wine its distinct minerality and fresh acidity. Farmed sustainably, fermented with 100% native yeast and crafted with minimal intervention in the cellar, Flowers Pinot Noir is a pure expression of the rugged and extreme Sonoma Coast.

Red currents, earthy forest floor, bergamot and sea breeze. A balanced wine with persistent mid palate that is laced with acidity and tart cherry, finishing light and lifted with a twist of blood orange.

Vintage

There is a great deal of beauty and expression to be found in the 2019 vintage. The growing season began with a cool winter and heavy rainfall; we even had snow on our estate! We already had cover crop coming up at this time, so the snow really oxygenated soils and brought them to life. Spring was clear and bright, with early bud break and cool, sunny days. Summer followed with mild temperatures allowing moderate ripening and resulting in an eloquent and expressive vintage with superb fruit quality.

Winemaking

Sourced from a small selection of family-owned vineyards on the Sonoma Coast as well as our Sea View Ridge estate. Each vineyard is carefully chosen for its farming practices, coastal influence, and fruit standards.

92 Points Jeb Dunnuck – “Moving to the reds, there are three Sonoma Coast and one Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. The 2019 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is deeper ruby-hued and has pure, classic, textbook notes of ripe cherries, raspberries, spring flowers, and underbrush. The balance is spot on, it has ripe, present tannins, good freshness, and a great finish.”

92 Points Wine & Spirits – “Chantal Forthun bases this blend on fruit from Sea View Ridge. It includes other far-coast vineyards and some less extreme sites that provide some luscious richness to take the edge off the bright, coastal fruit, matching raspberry seed tannins to raspberry cream, the red blush of peach skin, the light smokiness of sandstone. The transparent garnet color seems to reflect the wine’s brightness, suited to tuna seared rare, or grilled bluefish this summer.”

91 Points Antonio Galloni – “The 2019 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast) is effusive right out of the bottle. Bright red/purplish berry fruit and lifted aromatics give the 2019 so much immediacy and sheer appeal. Medium in body and supremely gracious, the Sonoma Coast Pinot is a terrific introduction to the lineup.”

91 Points Wine Enthusiast – “Juicy and broad in appeal with a generous helping of baked cherry and strawberry, this coastal wine is also earthy and savory in rhubarb and black tea. Lengthy, bold and balanced, it has well-integrated oak and tannin, finishing in a taste of black tea and forest floor.”

90 Points Wine Spectator – “This juicy red is filled with dried raspberry and cherry tart flavors that show plenty of toasty accents. Ends with notes of hot stone and cooking spices on the supple finish. Drink now through 2024. 23,000 cases made.”
