Wine Notes

“Fearless Red is a wine that began as an experiment. When we were still a very new winery, we had the opportunity to source some Syrah from a friend, and while we knew the vineyard to be excellent, we had never worked with Syrah before and frankly didn’t have a plan. That said, it is best to take opportunities when they are offered, so we sourced our first Syrah grapes in the 2007 vintage and held our breath to see what we had.”

“Those familiar with the 2007 vintage will know that what we had was excellent, but also abundant! So we set fruit aside for a 100% Syrah bottling, but took some of the plentiful Syrah and built a blend alongside Zinfandel and Petite Syrah. This became the first Fearless Red. Over subsequent vintages, Fearless Red quickly became a mainstay of our yearly production, allowing us to fully exercise our creativity.”

Tasting Notes

“The 2017 vintage was an excellent year for blending as every vineyard we worked with brought both opulence and unique character to the table and then the glass. Rich brambled notes of raspberry and cherry compote provide a fruity core, which marries nicely to hints of violet, vanilla and a springy welcoming acidity on the back palate that frames the fruit and encourages continued enjoyment. Feel free to enjoy this wine now; it’s what it was made for, though it will age quite happily for the next 5 to 7 years.”
