Tasting Notes
“The Piancornello Rosso di Montalcino is 100% Sangiovese. This Wine is always a bit more aggressive and masculine than the Sant’Antimo, with slightly more tannic grip and a bit less acidity. As with all of Piancornello’s Wines, this Wine shows off the perfect use of oak. Since there are no more barriques at the estate, the Wine is aged in tonneaux (25% new) for 10 months and then bottled. Production is approximately 15,000 bottles/year (or about 1,250 cases a year).”
91 Points James Suckling – “This has aromas of dried cherries, sandalwood, cloves, dried earth and tar. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, fine tannins. Savory. Drink or hold.”
