This wine is a blend of eight unique lots produced from Sonoma Coast vineyards ranging from Annapolis to Occidental, to the Petaluma Gap. Gap’s Crown, Sangiacomo, Walala, and Dorothy Cameron Vineyards represent key components used to produce this blend. Pinot noir clones 115, 828, 667, Pommard, and Swan add unique elements creating a complex Pinot noir with a myriad of textures and flavors. Each vintage, this blend offers balance and vibrant, lush textures that are characteristic of the Gap’s Crown and Sangiacomo vineyard components.
“The 2021 growing season offered optimal conditions in the Sonoma Coast to harvest grapes of exceptional quality. The air remained clear with no fires in Sonoma and pandemic lock downs ended. Our spirits were lifted and the grape harvest and wine quality benefited. Brief heat waves in August and September ripened the grapes to ideal maturity as the weather stayed dry until major rains arrived October 22, after our grapes were harvested. Yields were lower than average in 2021, with small berries and loose clusters creating wines of increased depth and concentration. This 2021 vintage was a pleasure to blend, with each component providing a layer and filling in gaps. The resulting harmony is delicious, with complex flavors and a silky mouthfeel.”
“One of the best values in the Sojourn portfolio, the 2021 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir brings together several unique lots from five vineyards spread across the AVA. The Walala and Gap’s Crown Vineyard components shine in this blend, resulting in an intense wine with rich texture. It offers balance and depth with fresh acidity and silky structure. This vintage has lifted red and dark fruit aromas, sage and earth, leading to a long finish. It is a pleasure to drink in its youth but will also reward a few years in your cellar. At only $45, this wine delivers outstanding value.”
94 Points Pinot Report – “Medium-deep ruby color; bright spice and complex dark cherry aromas; complex dark cherry flavors with spice and loamy notes; silky texture; great structure and balance; long finish. Complex and rich Pinot with great flavors. This wine is an awesome value.”
93 Points Wine Spectator – “Juicy and engaging, with heavy mulled raspberry and blood orange flavors coursing through, carried by a bright mineral edge and a flurry of red tea and savory notes. The long, lingering finish has nice latent tension. Drink now through 2030. 2,600 cases made.”
