“The superb Chardonnay we receive from Stiling vineyard has always been the heart and soul of our Luke’s Grove cuvée, but rarely has it flown completely solo. Never deficient, we nonetheless tend to blend in a bit of something else to produce our favorite rendition of this wine. Yet, to our immense delight, a switch to dry farming a few years back has leveled up concentration and complexity.
For the second vintage in a row now, Stiling gave us everything we need all on its own to create Luke’s Grove just the way we like it: broad-shouldered, luscious, and absolutely stuffed with that gregarious Russian River charm. If you know what style Chardonnay you like, this easy-to-love bottling will be your favorite for a reason, bringing a guaranteed smile each and every sip.
Raised entirely in puncheon, the Stiling fruit easily gobbled up the 50% new wood to add just the right amount of polish and toastiness to the finish. Despite the overall luscious, pleasure-pushing nature of Luke’s, we make sure it has enough acidity to stay fresh and lithe. The 2021 is particularly good example of this exercise in power and balance.”
